Receiving other benefits


Those receiving dependents’ benefits are not eligible to receive other benefits from the National Insurance Institute at the same time, except for child allowances. However, a child whose two parents were killed in a work accident is eligible for payment of a dependents’ benefit on the basis of the father as well as on the basis of the mother.

  • A person who receives a dependents’ benefit and due to the same event, is also eligible for survivors’ benefits - may choose one of the benefits. If s/he chooses the dependents’ benefits, its amount shall be no less than the amount of the survivors’ benefits that s/he is eligible for.
  • A person who receives a dependents’ benefit and is eligible for another benefit, such as general disability pension or old-age pension - must choose one of the benefits.
  • A person who receives a dependents’ benefit who becomes eligible for an old-age pension, or a person eligible for an old-age pension who become eligible for dependents’ benefits - shall receive the greater of the following benefits:

    - Full dependents’ benefits, supplemented by half an old-age pension.

    - Full old-age pension, supplemented by half a dependents’ benefits.

    - Full old-age pension, supplemented by half a survivors’ pension (where there is eligibility for a survivors’ pension).
  • A person receiving a dependents' benefit, whose income and that of his spouse are low - may claim an increment of income supplement.
